WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Advocacy Association recognized Paul Richman, Chief Government and Political Affairs Officer of the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) as one its ‘Top Twenty in 20,’ which acknowledges “advocacy practitioners who have excelled in the practice of their profession during the past year.”

According to the Advocacy Association, those recognized for the award are nominated by peers and “have proven that they lead the way in innovation, help advance the profession through thought leadership and mentoring and they are passionately involved in helping the advocacy community.”

“We are proud of Paul for this recognition,” said Wayne Chopus, IRI President and CEO. “Paul is an astute and passionate advocate for IRI members and our industry. Through his leadership and efforts, IRI was a major force behind the successful enactment of the SECURE Act last year. Paul also has led IRI’s effort this year to create and advocate our five-point plan to help retirement savers who have been affected by the pandemic. This has been instrumental in keeping attention on retirement security issues in this session of Congress.”

This is the second advocacy-related award for IRI in 2020. This summer, IRI was recognized for its efforts to enact the SECURE Act with a “Power of A” Gold Award for Advocacy by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
